Job Description: Mechanical Project Engineer

Salary: �80,000 - �90,000 per annum
Location: City of London - Zone 1 - 2

Company Overview:
Our client is a leading construction and engineering firm with a proven track record in delivering high-value commercial and retail projects across London. Currently, they are involved in a major design and build project worth over �25 million in MEP. The project is based in the heart of London, covering Zones 1 and 2, with an 18-month program that promises to be both challenging and rewarding.

Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team and assist in the design and delivery of this high-profile commercial and retail project. Reporting directly to the M&E Project Director, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality standards are met within the given timescales, budgets, and statutory requirements. You will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering design services, including the design of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems, hot and cold-water services, and natural gas systems. Your expertise in IESVE 2019 - Energy Modelling will be essential in undertaking simulations, feasibility studies, and contributing to whole life costing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Delivery:
    • Assist in the design and delivery of building and engineering projects, ensuring quality, time, and budget targets are met.
    • Undertake the design of mechanical engineering elements for new builds or refurbishment projects, specifying systems and performance criteria.
  • Mechanical Engineering Services:
    • Provide expert mechanical engineering design services, with a focus on heating, ventilation, cooling systems, hot and cold-water services, and natural gas.
    • Utilize IESVE 2019 for energy modeling, simulations, and feasibility studies to optimize project outcomes.
  • Project Management:
    • Understand project deliverables and RIBA stages, manage health and safety, cost control, value engineering, and conduct site inspections.
  • Reporting and Troubleshooting:
    • Prepare detailed reports, troubleshoot issues, and provide expert advice on new and redevelopment projects.
  • Innovation and Technology Integration:
    • Work with new and emerging technologies, integrating them into innovative building design concepts, and develop supply chains where necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer, ideally within commercial or retail design and build projects.
  • Strong expertise in heating, ventilation, and cooling systems, along with proficiency in IESVE 2019 - Energy Modelling.
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical engineering design, project deliverables, RIBA stages, and value engineering.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
