Mechanical Technician -  Fixed Term Contract

Circa £54,000 + bonus + OT + benefits

Sittingbourne, Kent

MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician on a 12 months fixed term contract basis to join the maintenance department of a an energy from waste power station in Kent. The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the planning and execution of mechanical maintenance work across the site to ensure minimum downtime.

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Fault finding, repair work and planned & reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical plant equipment including pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors, conveyors etc.
• Assisting with outage planning and coordination
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the CMMS
• Providing technical support to the operations team when required
• Working alongside other Technicians and Engineers with regards to plant projects and upgrades
• Managing contractors when required

This role is a day shift position working 40 hours per week and 1 weekend in 10

To be considered for this role you should have:

• A relevant engineering qualification at HNC/ONC level 3 ideally in mechanical engineering or similar
• At least 4 years of post-apprenticeship experience working in a hands-on maintenance or servicing roles across a heavy process industries e.g. power station, EFW, biomass, chemical plant, refinery, paper mill etc
• Experience carrying out maintenance and repair work on pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors and other rotating machinery
• Ideally experience managing and directing contractors
• Experience using a CMMS (computerise maintenance management system)

This role comes with a basic salary up to £54,000. There is also a bonus up to 10%, overtime as well as private medical and dental cover plus a company pension
