Responsibilities: Type and process clinical letters using audio dictation and ensure all follow-up actions are completed within timeframes. Act as point of contact for all forms of communication between consultants, patients, relatives, hospital staff and GPs. Deal with telephone calls from patients, relatives, hospital staff, and GPs, ensuring follow-up and resolving any problems as appropriate. Booking appointments. Deal with incoming and outgoing correspondence, directing and prioritising queries as appropriate. Ensure the patient management system is updated appropriately. Maintaining accurate and up to date patient records. Assisting with Private Practice Management Solutions work as required. Assisting with compiling information for weekly activity reports for the local health Trusts. Covering reception as and when required. Providing secretarial support to the wider team, including working within Hillsborough Private Clinic (our sister clinic) when required. Any other duties which may be deemed appropriate to the post. Essential criteria: 4 GCSEs Grade C/4 or above (to include English Language) or equivalent. 1 years experience working as a Medical Secretary. Audio typing experience. Competent in the use of Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills. Effective planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload. Attention to detail. Ability to deal with confidential/sensitive issues appropriately. Ability to work well as part of a team as well as on own initiative. Able to work flexibly. Desirable criterion: RSA/OCR Stage 2 Text Processing Part 1 and Part 2 (word processing/typewriting) or equivalent.
