Are you based in Wiltshire and looking for a fulfilling role supporting vulnerable children?

An impressive school for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs located in Reading are looking for a Mental Health Assistant to work in classroom support position for children with challenging behavior and mental health issues. Graduates with degrees in Psychology, Criminology or Counselling will be a brilliant fit for this position but university education is not mandatory. The specialist school wants a Mental Health Assistant to join the school to support their students throughout the school day. The SEN students are aged 3-16 and all have significant developmental trauma and behavioural challenges so the Mental Health Assistant will be supporting each student's wellbeing and personal development while ensuring their safety.

This is a FANTASTIC opportunity to get experience working in a professional environment. The Mental Health Assistant will constantly be learning communication skills and how to support children with considerable emotional needs. The successful candidate will work with psychologists and behavioural therapists on-site. As a Mental Health Assistant at the school you will be working alongside specialist professionals on the frontline, gaining priceless experience and learning to communicate and support these young people. This role would be a rewarding experience for any aspiring psychologist, counsellor or educational therapist! While working as a Mental Health Assistant you will bring enthusiasm, passion and empathy to the classroom. The school are looking for someone who can adapt, use their own initiative and provide consistent support throughout the students' school career.
