Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced CILEx or Solicitor to join a legal 500 practice. You would be joining a friendly and supportive team as a panel member in the mental health department. As a panel member, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of mental health files, representing clients in Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearings, and attending CPA and s117 meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a caseload of mental health files, ensuring timely and effective representation of clients
  • Represent clients in Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearings, advocating for their rights and interests
  • Attend CPA and s117 meetings, working collaboratively with other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients
  • Meet fee-earning targets and maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) compliance

Requirements:

  • Be a qualified CILEx or Solicitor with experience in mental health law
  • Have excellent communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and other professionals
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality client service
  • Possess strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a caseload effectively
  • Be able to generate business for the department and undertake some marketing activities

The department is known for its friendly and supportive environment, where fee-earners are encouraged to pursue their areas of interest within the sphere of mental health law. They have a healthy referral base, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the growth of the department through business development activities.

LAA contracts in London and Birmingham, as well as representation at three high secure hospitals in England.
