About the Role:

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you'll support students facing mental health challenges, helping them navigate their education. Collaborating with teachers and families, you'll create a nurturing environment that addresses each student's emotional needs.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Deliver tailored assistance to students with complex needs related to mental health, anxiety, and behaviour, ensuring effective implementation of their EHCPs.
  • Work alongside teaching staff to develop an inclusive and engaging curriculum that addresses mental health and behavioural challenges across various subjects, including outdoor education.
  • Create a nurturing learning atmosphere that promotes social, emotional, and mental well-being, specifically targeting anxiety and behavioural issues.
  • Dispense medications in accordance with school policy and specialist techniques, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Provide intimate and personal care, including hygiene and bathing, while maintaining the highest standards of dignity and respect.
  • Encourage and enable students to achieve a high level of independence in daily activities.
  • Under the direction of the class teacher, support students in engaging in classroom activities to their fullest potential, employing appropriate total communication techniques.

  • A deep comprehension of the diverse needs associated with Mental Health, Anxiety, and Behaviour.
  • An ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the unique requirements of individual students, particularly those facing mental health challenges.
  • A patient and understanding approach, when facing challenging behaviour.
  • A proactive and open mindset, working in a multidisciplinary team.
