Barker Ross are recruiting for MIG Welders to join our client based in Corby.

We are looking for competent MIG Welders, professionally trained or either college/apprenticed training completed.

Excellent opportunity for ongoing, Monday to Friday full time work.

Pay: £15.07 per hour, overtime £21.23 per hour.

Hours:

Mon - Thurs 8:00AM - 17:00PM

Fri 8:00AM - 16:30PM

Requirements for MIG Welder:

Ability to weld with and without Jigs using Mild Steel from 1mm to 15mm,
Welds to be watertight.
Able to read and work from Engineering Drawings.
Ability to MIG Weld Stainless steel would be useful although training would be given to the right candidate.
The ability to use hand power tools.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a skilled MIG Welder to join our team at Briggs Irrigation. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing MIG welding operations to fabricate and assemble components used in our irrigation systems. This role is critical in ensuring the structural integrity and reliability of our products, contributing to the success of our projects and the satisfaction of our customers. Additionally, the MIG Welder will be involved in jig work, assisting in the setup and utilisation of welding fixtures to ensure precise and consistent welds. They will also be responsible for ensuring that welds are water-tight and have the ability to weld at different thicknesses.

Key Responsibilities:

Read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to know welding needs.
Set up MIG welders, gas cylinders, and fixtures, ensuring proper settings and alignment.
Perform MIG welding on metal parts, using the right techniques for strong, durable welds.
Ensure welds are water-tight, especially for irrigation system components.
Weld materials of various thicknesses, adjusting settings as needed for quality.
Help set up welding jigs to ensure precise, consistent welds and proper fit-up.
Select and prepare metal materials, ensuring correct fit and alignment before welding.
Inspect welds for quality using visual and testing methods.
Fix welding equipment, material, or process issues to ensure consistent quality.
Follow safety procedures and wear PPE to avoid workplace accidents.
Work with supervisors and engineers to improve welding processes and solve problems.
Keep the welding area clean and maintain equipment regularly.
Stick to production schedules and prioritize tasks based on project needs.

Qualifications:

Experience as a MIG Welder or similar role, ideally in manufacturing or fabrication.
Skilled in MIG welding, including welding settings, electrode choice, and joint design.
Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints to meet quality standards.
Knowledge of welding materials and metals, and ability to choose the right materials for each job.
Strong attention to detail for making accurate, consistent welds on different metal parts.
Good communication and teamwork skills for working with others.
Willingness to work different shifts and overtime to meet production needs.
