We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our client in a controlled, chilled factory environment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the machinery and systems used on-site, ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and health & safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Production:
- Ensure adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain company specifications and ensure compliance.
- Work to minimize or eliminate food safety risks, such as cross-contamination.
- Store waste in designated places and ensure minimal production loss by quickly resolving breakdowns.
- Ensure equipment and site operations meet Health & Safety requirements.
- Update documentation as required for internal and external audits.
- Maintain and update records relating to spares, stock, and consumables.
Health & Safety / Hygiene:
- Maintain HACCP system procedures in accordance with quality assurance procedures.
- Prioritize food safety and animal welfare at all times.
- Ensure hygiene standards for equipment, staff, and storage areas are maintained.
Risk Management:
- Identify and record issues relating to the management of risk in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Key Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Level 2 Food Safety
- Level 2 COSHH
- Level 2 Health & Safety
- Level 2 Manual Handling
- HACCP Awareness
- Fully qualified Electrician with a minimum of 16th Edition electrical qualification
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a meat processing plant.
- Practical understanding of electrical equipment, circuit boards, PLCs, and electronic equipment.
- Experience with mechanical systems, including lifting equipment, rail systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, boilers, pressure washers, and forklifts.
- Plumbing and welding experience (desirable).
