Our client, who are a leading sheet metal and fabrication company, has urgent requirements for a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical and Mechanical) to join their growing team.



Duties:




  • Being at the frontline of an engineering plant and dealing with all equipment maintenance requires a responsible and organised approach

  • As a maintenance engineer you will be responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery. Using computerised systems, you'll oversee routine maintenance and organise repairs. You'll also be involved with control and monitoring devices and occasionally in the manufacture of items that will help in maintenance.

  • Your role is vital to the efficiency, development and progress of manufacturing and processing industries. Working with other professionals, you'll improve production facilities, reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns and develop strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel and production processes.

  • Your usual place of work will be a plant, factory, yard or sometimes offices areas. The work may involve but not specific to extended periods working on the factory floor and to tight deadlines in response to breakdown emergencies.



Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:




  • Ensure all legal requirements regarding machinery, lifting equipment etc. are current and kept up to date.

  • To control all contractors and appropriate permit to work documentation.

  • Ensure operating systems are kept up to date.

  • Carry out routine maintenance work and respond to equipment faults.

  • Diagnose breakdown problems.

  • Fit new parts and ensure equipment is working correctly.

  • Liaise with production and engineering colleagues.

  • Control maintenance tools, stores and equipment.

  • Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs.

  • Improve health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Where possible ensure there is continuous cover of the machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns.



Requirements:




  • Basic business skills, as you may be responsible for liaising with suppliers

  • The capacity to understand a range of engineering functions and procedures

  • The ability to lead and motivate others

  • Team working skills to work cooperatively and liaise with people at all levels

  • The ability to negotiate with, and persuade others

  • Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills

  • The confidence to respond positively when under pressure

  • People-management skills.

  • Additional working time may be required on occasions, to ensure an effective service is operational.

  • Every year you will absorb extra responsibility as deemed appropriate by your line manager, in order to develop the role as required.

  • You will normally work around 39 hours a week. However, it may be necessary to work overtime and or unsociable hours, in order to coordinate the work with technicians and minimise downtime.
