National Account Manager Foodservice

This is an ideal role for someone who understands the complexities of the commercial role in the foodservice sector and is looking for an opportunity with a business who can offer career progression working with strong brands who already have a high profile with their customer base.

The role is home-based with one day in the office a week - that flexibility works well across the commercial team as it allows for time to be together as a function and then work your own time around customers and the demands of the role.

Over recent years this business has expanded both in brand offering and profitability so a very attractive option to join the team. There are long standing customers as well as more recent additions to the customer base and within the Commercial team there are experienced individuals who have a wealth of knowledge that will provide excellent training and development opportunities.

The role:

  • A mixture of account management and new business development - major part of the role will be managing existing accounts.
  • Prepare an annual commercial plan that aligns with the objectives for that channel.
  • Identifying gaps in the market to identify key customer targets in line with the overall commercial strategy for the business.
  • Prepare annual budgets around volume, price, cost and margin in detail for each account.
  • Also being close to the NPD team to fully understand the product pipeline and enhanced developed of existing products for those discussions with customers.
  • Complete all marketing initiatives within agreed deadlines.

You do need experience of the foodservice sector and if you have OOH in your background, it would be an advantage. Other areas in your background will ideally cover:

  • Commercial experience as a Junior NAM or NAM in foodservice.
  • Proven examples of account management and the development of those existing accounts.
  • Examples of new business delivered.
  • Previous experience in FMCG or food product categories where you have been the point of contact able to build relationships and network effectively in the sector.
  • Good with numbers and able to interpret sets of data and budgets.
  • Highly personable, able to build relationships and confident to approach new contacts.
  • Good understand and experience in negotiation, able to speak fluently around the product range displaying market knowledge - training will be provided but the core skills are required.
  • Ambitious approach - keen to progress your career.

The client offers flexibility as well as a good package on top of the salary and car allowance. After an initial period spent working with colleagues to understand the business there will only be the need to be on site once a week and that can be worked around customer visits to be averaged acrosss the month. This is a mature environment with trust and respect at the core allowing autonomy and work life balance to operate effectively.
