Network Operations Center Engineer

Our client is looking to expand their Network Support team and are looking for a 2nd Line Network Engineer to join the team in Solihull on a £30k salary.About you Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsSelf-Motivated, Driven, Passionate and EnthusiasticAble to operate effectively in difficult and pressurised situationsExcellent written and verbal English communication skillsDriven to provide customers with an excellent serviceGreat attention to detailEssential Skills / ExperiencePrevious experience working in an ISP or service desk environment Keen interest in IP networking and WAN technologyExcellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsGood understanding of IP Networking, WAN technologies and Network securityHands on experience in, implementing and supporting LAN/WAN network equipment, network protocols and communication standards (Cisco & Juniper) Desirable Skills / ExperienceGood knowledge of Firewalls (Juniper, Checkpoint, Cisco ASA or FortiGate)Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (one or more; SolarWinds, PRTG etc.)Knowledge and experience of VPN and Remote Access solutionsCCNA or JNCIA certified - or working towardsAbout the roleProviding customers with an excellent level of support on faults and change requests via our helpdesk.Configuring and troubleshooting network devices including switches, routers, firewall, as well as a good understanding of networking protocols such as VLANs, NAT and VPNs.Assist in planning and notifying customers about planned and emergency network maintenanceAssisting in the delivery of complex projects within agreed timeframesProvisioning of new services on our ISP core infrastructure.
