Network Support Engineer

Our client is a well-established, dynamic and highly profitable supplier of technology products and services to an impressive, international customer base.
They seek to appoint a new, member to the Network Engineering Team the role will be varied and will suit someone who likes to be busy, is able to multitask and who takes a pro-active approach to work.
Job Description
Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will be a proactive member of the Support Desk delivering 2 nd and 3 rd line support on a range of services. Due to the bespoke nature of the solutions that they provide to their customers, additional training courses and extensive On the Job Training will be offered.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor remote user satellite terminals and investigate and resolve reported network issues using a wide variety of software applications.
- Liaise with customers and internally for problem resolution and ensure customer networks are running optimally.
- Triage or troubleshoot the problems using logical and methodical fault finding.
- Support a diverse array of deployed user terminals as part of a 27/7 on call rota.
- Configure and perform factory acceptance tests on VSAT terminals and Scytale hardware prior to deployment.
- Ability to use various portals to active services and collate reports for management and customers.
Candidate Requirements
The role would suit either someone starting out, who has a passion for IT/Networking and who seeks to develop their career in the sector or someone more experienced, who brings a proven ability. The Salary range is broad and will be based upon your level of experience.
- Customer service and or Network Operation experience.
- Ability and willingness to continuously learn and support new systems and services.
- Effective communicator with an eye for detail and accurate PC skills.
- Ability to diagnose complex faults, document, communicate and follow up corrective actions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of IP networking, switches, routers, firewalls, WAN/LAN topologies.
- An understanding of satellite communications (RF/VSAT/GEO/LEO).
- Experience of network monitoring applications.
Candidate Desirable Requirements
- CCNA/JNCIA qualification or demonstratable experience.
- iDirect IOM accreditation
- Global VSAT Forum (GVF) accreditation.
- Member of recognised technical or professional body.
- Ability to communicate articulately by means of technical documentation and able to present to students confidently via training material.
