A leading law firm is currently recruiting for a Solicitor to join their non-contentious construction team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years' relevant experience in the non-contentious construction sector. This role offers flexibility and can be based in either the Edinburgh or Glasgow office.
The team focuses on:


  • The construction aspects of major property developments and regeneration projects, including development agreements, building contracts, bonds, guarantees, and professional appointments.

  • Significant engineering projects, particularly in the energy sector, including onshore wind, hydro, battery storage, solar, tidal/wave, etc. Projects are located throughout the UK.


Clients include developers, contractors, public sector bodies, funders, and consultants.


The Role:


Technical/Legal Skills


  • Demonstrate appropriate legal knowledge and technical expertise.

  • Provide technical advice to colleagues.

  • Produce effective drafts with minimal guidance.

  • Present legal information in an understandable format with minimal guidance.

  • Generate and implement new ideas in specialist areas.


Business/Work Management


  • Identify strategies to manage work to meet objectives within agreed timescales and budgets.

  • Keep clients and colleagues up-to-date with the latest developments.

  • Implement improvements in working methods.

  • Prepare for and attend meetings.

  • Make effective use of the firm's information management systems and comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Comply with all firm policies and procedures, including financial.

  • Demonstrate effective time management.


Business Development


  • Develop an understanding of market forces affecting clients, identifying trends and opportunities for business development.

  • Develop effective solutions for clients with minimal guidance.

  • Build relationships with key clients and demonstrate awareness of client care issues.

  • Provide feedback to partners/associates.

  • Assist in assessing work scope and fees within the team.

  • Participate in marketing activities.

  • Demonstrate effective presentation and writing skills.

  • Implement cross-selling opportunities.

  • Utilise knowledge as a marketing tool (e.g., eBulletin articles, client seminars, etc.).


People Management


  • Develop an effective personal presence with partners and colleagues.

  • Delegate work effectively to both fee-earning and non-fee-earning staff, including setting objectives and providing feedback.

  • Supervise work effectively and understand team expectations for transactions.

  • Conduct well-prepared and presented training sessions.

  • Interact positively with colleagues in other sections.

  • Develop leadership skills in client work and management.

  • Recognise ethical issues and address them with the appropriate person.

  • Apply relevant professional conduct principles and seek assistance when necessary.

This is a 50% Hybrid role
