Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Room Leader to join a team. The ideal candidate will work effectively as part of the nursery team, providing a stimulating and caring environment for pre-school children. The role involves supporting team members to ensure a high standard of care and education.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the main contact for the designated nursery room, ensuring smooth operation and a safe environment.
Plan, prepare, and participate in a range of activities in line with the EYFS Framework to promote each childs physical, intellectual, and emotional needs.
Implement activities encouraging linguistic and social interaction between children and their carers.
Support Nursery Practitioners and students in the implementation and evaluation of childrens planning and progress.
Act as a key worker for a group of children, observing, monitoring, and recording their development.
Complete Tapestry entries for children, observing, monitoring, and logging progress in individual online learning journals.
Attend staff training, meetings, parents' evenings, and open days as required.
Communicate with parents/carers about the day-to-day needs of the children, fostering parental involvement and encouraging positive parenting skills.
Help children acquire self-help skills, including dressing, feeding, toilet training, and personal hygiene awareness.
Ensure the nursery meets safety and hygiene requirements, reporting any issues to a senior staff member.
Set out a cleaning rota with the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager, completed by all staff within the allocated room.
Assist with domestic jobs within the nursery as needed, including laundry and cleaning.
Comply with all LifeLines policies and procedures, including safeguarding, child protection, and confidentiality.
Keep up-to-date with developments in childcare and parent education through regular training.
Maintain records and documentation that comply with statutory requirements, supporting nursery practitioners with completion.
Conduct staff one-to-ones and appraisals.
Undertake other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time.
Requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
NNEB/CACHE, BTEC or NVQ in Childcare at Level 3 or above
GCSE Maths and English
Grade C and above / or Functional Skills
Level 2
English, Maths, and ICT
Recent post-qualifying experience
Paediatric First Aid Certificate
Desirable Qualifications:
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
Level 3 in Safeguarding
Level 3 in Special Educational Needs
Essential Experience and Skills:
Recent experience in an early years care/education setting
Experience in planning short, medium, and long-term plans in an early years setting
Experience providing a nursery curriculum for 0-3 and/or 3-5 year olds
Knowledge/experience meeting the needs of children and families
Experience maintaining accurate records
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and organisations
Ability to build relationships with children
Ability to work independently and within a team
Problem-solving skills and knowing when to refer issues on
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Desirable Experience and Skills:
Experience supervising staff and students
Experience working with children with special educational needs
