The salary for this permanent Occupational Therapist job is £35,392 - £42,618 per annum.

Main Duties:


  • Assessment and Treatment Planning: Provide Occupational Therapy assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to the client’s goals, aiming to maximize their functional independence.
  • Home Visits: Conduct assessments during home visits and recommend appropriate aids and equipment to enhance functional independence.
  • Key Worker Role: Act as the primary contact for clients at CRC, supporting their rehabilitation, stay, and discharge planning.
  • Caseload Management: Manage your own caseload and oversee a specific area of the service, working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary neuro-rehabilitation team to contribute to the planning, development, and delivery of effective and efficient services.
  • Treatment Evaluation: Continuously evaluate and adjust treatment regimes in coordination with the senior therapist.
  • Goal Setting: Establish both short-term and long-term goals for clients.
  • Splinting: Lead and assist with splinting as needed.
  • Program Integration: Implement and monitor treatment programs within the client’s environment, ensuring integration with the work of therapy support workers and care staff.
  • Strategy Integration: Incorporate strategies agreed upon by the multi-disciplinary team into client treatment management.
  • Wheelchair Assessment: Participate in the assessment of wheelchair seating needs for clients, working with the Physiotherapy department if necessary.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on advancements within the Occupational Therapy profession.
  • Supervision: Supervise band 5 occupational therapists, students, and therapy support workers, in collaboration with senior occupational therapists.
  • Environmental Advice: Advise other staff on creating optimal working environments to support clients in maximizing their physical abilities, alongside senior therapists.
  • Reporting: Contribute to client reports for reviews and case conferences.
  • Equipment Safety: Ensure that all equipment used is well-maintained and that safety protocols are followed to protect clients and staff in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act.
  • Information Provision: Provide professional advice and information to clients, families, carers, and other agencies regarding future service needs based on your expertise.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate client records and provide written assessments as required.

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:


  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Membership with the Health Professions Council (HPC)
  • Evidence of relevant post-graduate courses or ongoing professional development
  • Membership of BAOT/COT (British Association of Occupational Therapists/College of Occupational Therapists)
  • Post-qualification experience in working with physical disabilities and neurological rehabilitation
  • Experience with administering standardised assessments and applying clinical reasoning, including conducting home visits
  • Experience dealing with complex physical conditions
  • Full driving licence
