Operational Finance Analyst- Birmingham - Permanent Role

Circa £40,000 Per annum

Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:30, 60-minute break

All candidates will be subject to a DBS check.

Silver Arrow are currently recruiting for an Operational Finance Analyst to work for our client based in Birmingham on a permanent basis. If you have a commercial mindset and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, then we want to hear from you.

Your Role:

  • Identify financial status by comparing and analysing actual results with plans and forecasts
  • Liaising with procurement team to compare and contrast budgeting P&Ls vs Actuals at customer and trade level
  • Improve financial status by analysing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; recommending actions to management
  • Review inter month variances and compare costs against company procedures, e.g. profit expectations and director sign off
  • Review open reserves to identify trends and compare actual invoices v open reserves
  • Guide cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends and forecasts; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions
  • Enforce company policies and procedures and offer training to departments and team members to ensure cost improvement
  • Recommend actions by analysing and interpreting data, making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and materials.
  • Liaise with all members of the business to suggest best practice and increase efficiency in costing process
  • Increase productivity by developing automated accounting applications; coordinating information requirements

Support the Finance supervisor where required, such as:

  • Making them aware of any changes/additions needed to SOP's
  • Ensuring you are comfortable with the rollout of any new tasks and helping to ensure these go smoothly
  • Helping with writing process SOP's
  • Helping with data integrity checks when required, weekly, monthly or quarterly
  • Ensuring rates are up-to-date on our intranet

What we need from you:

  • Experience in the logistics sector is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent planning and attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivated
  • Excellent usage of computer / operating system (Microsoft Windows) along with other office applications (Microsoft Office), specifically excel
