Position: Operations Director - Commercial Solar Projects - Large Scale

Based Yorkshire, this business have rapidly grown to become a key player in the green energy sector. Due to increased new projects and growth plans the Managing Director is seeking an experienced Operations Director for the businesses Commercial Solar Projects division, this is a newly created position in the company to strengthen the Senior Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations coupled with strong electrical knowledge. This role is suited for individuals with a Mechanical & Electrical background who have effectively managed large commercial contracts.
Our client would also be open to considering an experienced contracts manager, operations manager or project manager looking for their first Director role if experience and required skills align well with the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a technical team of 5 and recruitment duties as the business continues, ensuring high performance and professional development.
- Oversee operational planning and execution of commercial solar projects from initiation to completion.
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and maintain high standards of health and safety across all projects.
- Create and manage project schedules, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
- Develop and implement processes for efficient project management and timely delivery of services.
- Facilitate communication between internal teams and external partners, ensuring clear reporting and updates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with subcontract installers, managing the communication and ensuring seamless processes and improvements.
- Monitor and evaluate project progress, implementing necessary changes to maintain timelines and quality.
- Contribute to strategic planning and offer insights on operational efficiencies and risk management.
Qualifications:
- A degree or certification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field is advantageous without an experienced Operational Lead in Commercial Solar Large Scale projects would also be considered
- Extensive knowledge of Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations.
- Strong electrical understanding, preferably with experience in renewable energy projects.
- Proven experience in managing large commercial contracts, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Health and safety awareness with NEBOSH and SMSTS qualifications highly desirable.

- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to project management.
- Experience with project management software and other relevant tools.
