Paint Manufacturing Engineer

Desford (LE9) – based fully onsite

12 month contract

37.5 hours a week with a lunchtime finish on a Friday! (06.00/07.00am start time Mon - Fri)

Up to £21.00 per hour PAYE / Up to £28.45 per hour via Umbrella contract

We’re looking for a Paint Manufacturing Engineer to join a Global Fortune 100 Off Highway Machinery Manufacturer’s facility in Desford. The successful candidate will provide expertise in specific areas of paint processes and facilities in this diverse environment, working your way through interesting challenges to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective coating of product to applicable regulations and to our client’s standards. What will the Paint Manufacturing Engineer do?


  • Apply in-depth technical knowledge of industrial pretreatment, electrocoat and wet and powder coating processes for problem solving and process improvement
  • Evaluate new product suitability for the paint process from drawings and CAD models and liaise with engineers for design changes as necessary
  • Validate NPI process through prototype builds.
  • Masking development and first item buy-off
  • Create & maintain standard work documents + train Operations personnel in new processes
  • Design all lifting + suspension equipment & maintain statutory inspection + testing regime
  • Validate all new equipment and tooling in collaboration with Operations
  • Fully investigate and report safety related issues to management and Operations personnel
  • Risk assess and continually improve safety and process improvements
  • Obtain quotes, raise purchase orders and support capital plant upgrades and installations
  • Control spending within budgetary constraints and pursue cost saving opportunities
  • Work flexibly to occasionally implement changes outside normal production hours

What we’re looking for from you as Paint Manufacturing Engineer;


  • A minimum of 3 years of appropriate manufacturing experience
  • A degree in a Manufacturing Engineering discipline (or related). Applicants with extensive relevant paint process and facilities knowledge and experience will also be considered.
  • Detailed knowledge of industrial paint processes for metal substrates, manufacturing concepts and Lean principles
  • Analytical ability as well as excellent communication skills
  • The ability to influence others and lead teams
  • Competent in using common office software
  • CAD knowledge and Powder paint experience are desirable
