Job Title: Paint Technician
Working Hours: Monday-Thursday, 07:30-16:15 | Friday, 07:30-11:30

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Paint Technician to join our Finishing Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying specialised coatings to a variety of aerospace components. This role requires expertise in surface preparation, masking, coating application, and finishing techniques, with a strong commitment to maintaining quality and adhering to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare component surfaces by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming to ensure optimal conditions for paint adhesion and a smooth finish.
  • Apply a variety of coatings, including primers, topcoats, heat-resistant, anti-corrosive, and other protective layers as required.
  • Operate and maintain painting equipment, including spray booths, spray guns, and mixers.
  • Conduct inspections to verify paint uniformity, quality, and compliance with aerospace specifications.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and inspection results.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Specialised Coatings Expertise: Experience applying coatings that withstand extreme conditions such as high altitude, temperature fluctuations, and chemical exposure.
  • Surface Preparation Skills: Proficiency in cleaning, sanding, and priming to ensure proper adhesion and durability of coatings.
  • Precision and Accuracy: Ability to apply paint uniformly with high attention to detail, preventing defects that could impact aerodynamics and performance.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of various aerospace paints and coatings, including anti-corrosive, heat-resistant, and camouflage finishes.
  • Safety Standards Compliance: Strong commitment to following health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Quality Control Focus: Experience conducting inspections and adhering to aerospace industry standards.
  • Proficiency with Equipment: Skilled in using spray guns, brushes, and advanced application techniques.
  • Attention to Detail: Capability to ensure even coverage, proper masking, and no overspray.
  • Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and other team members to meet project specifications.
  • Documentation Ability: Experience maintaining detailed records of materials, processes, and inspections for compliance and traceability.

Trade Test:
A practical assessment lasting 1-2 hours will be conducted during the interview process, which will include:

  • Masking a component using various tapes.
  • Demonstration of knife skills.
  • A spraying demonstration.

Pay Rates:

First 12 weeks rates:

Core days �17.52p/h PAYE Or �20.07 including holiday pay

Overtime over 37hrs �26.28p/h PAYE Or �30.10 including holiday pay

Sundays �35.04 PAYE Or �40.13 including holiday pay

After 12 weeks rates:

Core days �18.05p/h PAYE Or �20.68 including holiday pay

Overtime over 37hrs �27.08p/h PAYE Or �31.01 including holiday pay

Sundays �36.10 PAYE Or �41.35 including holiday pay
