Role: Payroll Manager



Hours: Part-time 25 hours 



Location: Shirley Solihull B91 with some hybrid working



Contract: Permanent



Salary: Up to £40,000 DOE (FTE) pro-rata



We are working on behalf of an established and award-winning employer, with an exciting opportunity to appoint a new part-time Payroll Manager. Working closely with the Payroll Controller, you will work together in ensuring an efficient Payroll service is delivered to the business and identify areas for improvement to existing processes and systems. You will work as part of a successful service-based business that is enjoying continuing success in expanding is customer base, presenting an opportunity to grow and develop with the business and work as part of an established and friendly team culture.



This is a part time position working 25 hours across 3 - 4 business days. You will be expected to be office for your full working week when its month end to process payroll and be readily available to support employee queries.



Previous experience in a fast paced Payroll position using Sage 50 is essential for this position. 





Role and responsibilities:




  • Support the Payroll Controller in processing multiple monthly payrolls for 1500 employees. To include starter, leaver, amendments, absence, overtime, statutory payments and pensions

  • Deal with discrepancies and operate as point of contact for queries

  • Support the monthly financial accounting requirements of the business, to include report generation, producing weekly/monthly payroll journals, reconciliations, etc

  • Oversee the running of the Company Pension Schemes

  • General payroll administration duties to include the updating of payroll records

  • Preparation of reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages.

  • Gender pay gap reporting

  • Daily use of Excel and SAGE systems



Skills and experience required:




  • Significant experience working in a busy Payroll environment is essential

  • Experience in using SAGE is essential

  • Knowledge of NEST pension scheme is highly advantageous

  • Ability to work in a fast paced and small team environment

  • Attention to detail with the ability to multitask

  • Self-sufficient to be able to work remotely and unsupervised occasionally

  • High standards of work with the ability to spot opportunities for improvement
