Job title:        Pastoral Assistant

Location:       Brookthorpe Hall School, Gloucester

Salary:           £21,000.00 per annum

Contract:       Permanent; Term Time only

Hours:           40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 - 16:30

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Pastoral Assistant to join our close-knit team at Brookthorpe Hall School, part of Options Autism.

About the Role

The post holder will manage and work as part of a team supporting the learning and behaviour of students. The post holder will provide practical support for individual students and work with the whole school to promote positive behaviour management.

To manage pupils’ behaviour, delivering high quality care and support for emotionally vulnerable young people.

To work in close collaboration with the Pastoral Manager for Senior Staff to maintain a consistent approach and service delivery to the young people.

To practice with a high degree of competence, with the aim of reducing barriers to education and independent social interaction, leading to all pupils achieving their potential.

To co-ordinate, all services in school to provide integrated provision for pupils.

To work with specific boys and develop their resilience and skills within lessons and around the site to improve their engagement in their own learning.

Who we are looking for

Experience in a similar setting would be an advantage.

An awareness of the current issues affecting young people

Experience of working with outside agencies

About the School

Brookthorpe Hall School is a specialist provision providing full-time specialised co-education for young people aged 7 to 16 with a range of complex needs, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviour. This may include social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.
