NXTGEN is delighted to be partnering with a modern accountancy firm in Norwich to recruit a Payroll Assistant to join their lovely and experienced team. This is a newly created Payroll Assistant role, driven by the firm's continued expansion and growing demand for their payroll services. As the new Payroll Assistant, you'll be stepping into a role that offers so much more than just payroll processing. You'll work with a varied client base, from ambitious SMEs to well-established businesses, delivering end-to-end payroll services, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, while building trusted relationships throughout.

You'll be joining one of the most supportive and friendly teams in the local market, within a firm known for its down-to-earth culture and collaborative working environment. This is a client I've had the pleasure of working closely with for a number of years, not only placing their current Payroll Manager but also a number of other highly successful Accountants across the firm, so if this is a role that intrigues you, I'll be able to give a real insight into what this role would entail as well as success stories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing end-to-end payroll for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Handling payroll queries and providing expert advice on PAYE, pensions, and statutory deductions
  • Building strong client relationships and delivering exceptional service
  • Working closely with the wider team to continuously improve processes and efficiencies

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience in payroll processing within an accountancy practice or bureau environment
  • Knowledge of payroll software such as Sage Payroll or Xero Payroll
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines effectively
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, keen to develop and grow within the firm
