Meridian Business Support are working with our fantastic client within the Public Services sector, they are looking for a
Payroll Officer (12 Month Contract) to join the team based near the Swindon Office.
About the roleYou will be responsible�for managing the monthly payroll activities and ensuring that accurate data is provided to third party payroll provider.
Key Accountabilities:��
- Recording payroll data in the Access system
- Maintains payroll processing system and records by gathering, calculating and inputting data.
- Calculating overtime, salary increases and other payroll changes when managers or employees request this.
- Answering and resolving payroll enquiries quickly and efficiently via email and telephone
- Monthly checking of payroll for all Groups
- Providing reports for schools to check monthly payroll
- Producing reports on an adhoc basis
- Sending out P45s and P60s
- Adheres to payroll policies and procedures and complies with relevant laws
- Identifies, investigates and resolves discrepancies in timesheet and payroll records
- Maintaining compliant policies and procedures
- Ensuring BACS payments are signed off and sent on schedule with Finance and HR Director
- Calculating adjustments for new starters, leavers and job changes making sure the details entered are inputted correctly
- Liaising with payroll contact to help calculate over payments�and underpayments for staff
- Producing maternity schedules for employees, calculating the payments each month along with SMP
- Calculating SSP and occupational sick pay
- Processing pension opt outs/opt ins and retirement paperwork
About you:
- Payroll experience
- Payroll qualification or working towards
- Familiarity with payroll software
- Excellent calculation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Work to tight deadlines
- ALT Safeguarding and Data Protection training (willingness to complete)
- Knowledge of tax codes and procedures (desirable)
- Must be able to pass DBS checks
This is a full time role working
Monday to Friday 37 hours a week on a 12 Month contract, offering
circa �28,000 - �35,000 plus great benefits including 31 days holiday + bank holidays.
