Personal Tax Accountant



Location: Burnham, Slough, Berkshire, SL1 6AE.  

Salary: £25,000 - £35000 per annum dependent on experience.

Contract: Full time, permanent. This is an office-based job but there is potential to discuss flexibility around school hours/holidays.

We support the UKs largest network of accountants specialising in small business and individuals, providing accounts, tax, advisory and a range of tailored additional services. Our network operates from around 370 locations in the UK, dealing with over 75,000 clients with a collective fee bank approaching £50m.



The Burnham franchise currently services circa 750 clients including a mixture of personal tax clients, sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, with GRF approaching £800,000.



The current practice owners are looking for a Personal Tax Accountant to join our growing team.



Personal Tax Accountant – Main responsibilities:



•  Requesting information from clients and sending drafts and payment instructions to clients

•  Preparation of over 500 personal and partnership tax returns, ensuring high standards for compliance and accuracy

•  Dealing with multi property rental accounts and preparation of capital gains tax returns on residential property

•  Liasing with HMRC and dealing with queries and investigations

•  Assisting with ad hoc queries

•  Managing day to day client portfolio including billing and monitoring work in progress

•  Engaging with other staff within the practice on tax matters relevant to other departments

•  Providing an efficient, client focused, and proactive service



Excellent career progression to tax manager managing the whole portfolio of 800 clients including management of 2 subcontractors.



Skills/competencies



•  Strong analytical and numerical skills

•  Excellent attention to detail

•  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage client and team relationships effectively

•  Experience in manipulating and analysing Excel data

•  Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

•  Proactive approach to work and ability to work well under pressure

•  ATT/CTA qualified

•  Strong technical knowledge of UK tax legislation and its application to private clients

•  Experience of basic private client advisory work an advantage

•  The successful applicant would benefit from an understanding of residency and inheritance tax, or an interest in these areas where training would be provided

•  Experience of Taxcalc and Karbon an advantage
