I am currently recruiting for a Piping Calculations Engineering Specialist to work in Bristol for a global leader in civil Nuclear engineering. The initial duties of this position will contribute towards a network of more than 70km of piping of a nuclear island.

The Role

The key responsbilities of this position will include:

  • Gathering input data, analysing/updating hypothesis notes and loading description reports
  • Performing the piping flexibility calculations and calculation of piping support.
  • Analysing the mechanical behaviour of the piping network with respect to the codified criteria,
  • Proposing appropriate and proportionate modifications in case the sizing criteria are not met
  • Producing calculation notes

Experience required:

Essential:

  • Prior experience with a finite element analysis tool
  • Strong mechanical knowledge (modal analysis, static analysis)

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a nuclear environment
  • Experience in ANSYS and in calculation of special piping component (fixed point, endplates)
  • Experience in RSTAB or BEAM STRESS and support calculation
  • Knowledge of RCC-M code (section C3650 at least) and understanding of damage mode
  • Knowledge of CALTUY/Pipestress
