OLG Recruitment are currently looking for a Plant Condition Monitoring Technician. This is a contract position for 6-12 months.
As a PCM Technician you will be within the Reliability Engineering Design department and you will play a key role in independently planning and performing inspections on process equipment, ensuring optimal plant reliability and performance. You will be responsible for investigating, analysing and recommending corrective condition monitoring techniques to enhance the lifespan of plant and processes.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure all engineering activities are carried out safely, in compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Management of Change process.
Oversee and monitor the inspection program for assigned plant areas, acting as the first point of contact for plant reliability issues or data interpretation from plant monitoring systems.
Manage Safe Work Practices (SWPs) and risk assessments for all team activities, ensuring documents are regularly reviewed and clearly communicated.
Maintain a visible presence, representing centralised PCM services across the site or relevant business area.
Promote and develop best practices in equipment reliability techniques, working closely with plant engineering and manufacturing teams.
Plan and schedule monitoring activities and related tasks to minimise production downtime, optimise engineering resources and reduce costs.
Conduct scheduled inspections of mechanical and electrical equipment in collaboration with Plant Engineers, collecting vibration or acoustic data to assess equipment condition and identify any performance trends. Communicate findings to plant maintenance engineers.
Provide a variety of investigative condition monitoring services (such as endoscopy and thermography) to support plant or process performance investigations.
Deliver both planned and reactive corrective condition monitoring services, including dynamic balancing and machine alignment.
Assist in establishing inspection standards and recommend changes to maintenance procedures and equipment design to improve plant performance.
Maintain and update information systems (e.g., SAP, Emerson AMS) to ensure equipment condition data and histories are current.
Experience
The ability to work in industrial environments is a must youll be working at height, in areas near hot metal and in outdoor conditions.
Strong communication and IT skills are essential. You should feel confident in conveying information both verbally and in writing.
A solid background in mechanical or electrical craft training, followed by hands-on plant maintenance experience, is required. You should also have at least a BTEC National level 3 qualification.
You should be able to analyse equipment performance, diagnose faults and offer actionable advice to resolve issues effectively.
Experience with PCM inspection techniques is a plus, but were also happy to provide training and certification in PCM Vibration Analysis techniques (ISO 18436-2) up to level 2 if needed.
A full UK driving license is required for this role.
