On behalf of our client, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Plant Fitter. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a range of construction plant machinery and equipment. The role also includes portable appliance testing (PAT) and ensuring all hand tools and machinery are safe and compliant for site use. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical &/or electrical expertise, the ability to diagnose faults, and a commitment to maintaining safety standards.

Plant Technician
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a variety of construction plant machinery.
- Perform Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) on site equipment to ensure electrical safety compliance.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair hand tools and smaller machinery, ensuring they are in safe working condition.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults, completing necessary repairs efficiently.
- Conduct pre-start inspections of all plant and tool equipment, ensuring they meet safety standards.
- Keep accurate maintenance records and logs for all repairs, services, and PAT testing conducted.
- Collaborate with the site teams to reduce equipment downtime and ensure continuous workflow.
- Order and replace parts as necessary, maintaining an organized inventory of parts and tools.
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and safety checks on machinery and tools.
- Provide guidance and advice to operators on the safe use and basic maintenance of plant machinery and tools.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize site disruption.
Plant Technician
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Plant Fitter or similar role within the construction or plant hire industry.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with PAT testing and maintaining hand tools.
- Ability to diagnose faults using technical manuals and drawings.
- Full UK driving license (essential).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to health and safety practices, with experience in safety inspections.
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance or a related qualification.
- Experience working with construction flooring equipment (advantageous but not essential).
