We are assisting a small, independent, co-educational day and boarding school for children aged 9 - 18 in Surrey. This academically ambitious school prides itself on its close-knit community, where every staff member knows and cares for each student. The school emphasises holistic development, nurturing students' talents and sparking their intellectual curiosity. Their 'Future Ready' educational philosophy ensures that students are well-prepared for life beyond school.

We are looking for a part-time Politics Teacher to join this dedicated team, teaching KS5 Politics and potentially other subjects. The successful candidate will inspire a passion for learning and help students achieve their best in Politics.

Teaching and Learning Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a deep and thorough knowledge of Politics and the best teaching practices for the subject.
  • Create an engaging and stimulating classroom environment that motivates students to learn, think independently, take risks, empathise, and perform at their best.
  • Support each pupil's learning journey, ensuring they feel included, secure, and valued.
  • Establish an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect by being consistent and fair.
  • Understand and cater to the learning needs of all students, helping each one reach their potential.
  • Monitor student progress, implement effective intervention strategies, and follow the guidance and schemes of work provided by the Head of Department.
  • Plan and deliver inspiring lessons, and prepare, mark, and report in line with school policy to help students achieve high standards.
  • Utilise the school's online learning platforms, including Microsoft Teams, OneNote, SENECA, Exampro, and data logging software.

Pastoral Responsibilities:

  • Conduct yourself professionally, supporting the school's aims and safeguarding policies.
  • Potentially take on the role of Form Tutor, overseeing the academic, pastoral, and administrative needs of your tutees and acting as the primary contact for their parents.

General Responsibilities:

  • Participate in organising and running co-curricular and enrichment activities.
  • Uphold the school's code of conduct and values.
  • Maintain discipline and implement the school's reward and sanction policies.
  • Attend parents' evenings and maintain effective communication with parents.
  • Attend staff and departmental meetings as required.
  • Undertake supervisory duties and assist with marking entrance exams as needed.
  • Fulfil any additional duties as reasonably requested.

Professional Development:

  • Contribute to departmental policies, schemes of work, digital resources, and development planning.
  • Actively participate in CPD training opportunities and share best practices with colleagues.
  • Engage in the annual performance review, appraisal, and development program.
