**£85 - £115 daily (depending on your experience)

Successful Post-16 College located in the London Borough of Bexley is seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA). This would be a 5 day a week 8:30am – 4:30pm contract position to start straight away!

The ideal LSA must have expertise in supporting students with Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, behavioural challenges, wheelchair users, Down Syndrome, and providing both 1:1 and classroom support, including personal care.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Previous experience working with Post-16 students with Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, behavioural challenges, wheelchair users, and Down Syndrome; ie either as an LSA or Behaviour Support / SEN Teaching Assistant / Youth Worker / SEN Child Support Worker
  • Strong understanding of special educational needs (SEN) and the ability to implement effective support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
  • Competence in providing personal care with sensitivity and respect.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special education, or a related field are highly desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
  • Provide 1:1 support to students with Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, behavioural challenges, and Down Syndrome, ensuring their educational and emotional needs are met.
  • Assist wheelchair users with mobility, ensuring accessibility to all areas of the college and supporting their participation in all activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to support classroom activities and facilitate an inclusive learning environment.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans (BSPs) to promote student progress and well-being.
  • Assist with personal care tasks for students with physical disabilities or other needs, maintaining their dignity and comfort.
  • Monitor and manage student behaviour, employing de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies as needed.
  • Provide academic support, including tutoring and assistance with coursework, under the guidance of teaching staff.
  • Foster a positive and supportive relationship with students, encouraging their independence and self-confidence.
  • Liaise with parents, caregivers, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and any incidents that occur.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
