Primary SEN Teacher

Key Stage 2 Class Teacher with experience of SEN

Location :Leicester

Contract Type:

fixed-term contract (2 terms)

Hours:

8:00-3:30 Monday-Wednesday ( 3 days a week)

Career Teachers are recruiting a motivated and positive minded SEN Primary Class Teacher, on a temporary (fixed term) basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an inspiring teacher to join one of our partner Primary schools and make a real difference to the education of young learners.

Your role would be supporting specialist provision in a mainstream primary school for a small group of Key Stage 2 children with Special Needs.

You will be an experienced SEN teacher or have Primary experience in Key Stage two and have particular knowledge and experience of children with Autism / ASD.

The school is warm and welcoming, friendly and multi-cultural. The children are positive and enthusiastic learners.

We are seeking a dedicated, creative class teacher to join the school on a part time basis (3 days per week - these are negotiable but ideally will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday). You will work alongside the existing teachers, the SENDCo and 4 experienced teaching assistants to create a calm, nurturing and fun classroom where individual needs are planned for and met. The aim is for some of the children to spend up to 50% of their time in a mainstream classroom with appropriate support and you will be instrumental in facilitating this.

We are looking for a teacher who is committed to working with pupils from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures and who is able to contribute to whole school life. Experience of working with children with communication and interaction needs and / or a solid understanding of the EYFS and KS1 curricula is essential.

The position will begin in January 2025 (a flexible start date is possible for the right candidate) and is a fixed term contract to the end of the academic year in the first instance, with the possibility of a permanent position becoming available at that time.

We are looking for somebody who:

  • Has experience working with children with a range of additional needs who are not able to access full time mainstream education.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of progression from EYFS to the end of KS2.
  • Has a proven record of planning and delivering creative and effective lessons.
  • Has high expectations of themselves and the children they teach.
  • Has a consistently firm yet nurturing approach to classroom management
  • Can work successfully as part of a team
  • Can maintain a healthy work-life balance
  • Has a good sense of humour
  • Can build and maintain positive and effective relationships with pupils and parents
In return we can offer:
  • A fantastically resourced school
  • A wealth of CPD opportunities both in and out of school
  • An extremely supportive and friendly team
  • Amazing children who are fun to work with and ensure that no two days are the same
  • Shared PPA time with your team
