Principal Accountant

Cedar is partnering with a Local Authority in the South East to recruit a Principal Accountant to join their dynamic Corporate Finance team. The successful candidate will inform strategic decision making, deliver expert financial advice and spearhead budget maintenance, monitoring and control.

Salary: �52,000 - �62,000 per annum

Location: South East

Hybrid Working Pattern: 2-3 days on site per week

Contract Length: 9 months

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on the annual budget setting process.
• Oversee the preparation of revenue & capital expenditure and income budgets with the Finance Manager.
• Highlight financial risks and opportunities.
• Design robust financial models and analytics to determine the financial impact of future service demands and changes in legislation.
• Seek out alternative funding sources to fill established gaps.
• Streamline internal process improvements.
• Assist with the annual account closedown process in compliance with codes of practice and reporting standards.
• Liaise with external and internal auditors and upkeep accurate audit trails.
• Mentor and train junior members of staff.

Requirements

• CCAB or CIMA qualified.
• Previous experience in a similar role within a Local Authority.
