You’re encouraged to have a growth mindset and are given the space to develop personally and professionally, building a flexible career that works for you.Role description:We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Civil Engineer to manage a growing team and an increasing portfolio of work across our regional Resilience - Water Teams. The candidate will need to have proven capability of delivering technical designs for a wide portfolio of projects including non-infra and infra projects, across Water and/or Wastewater projects. The successful candidate will provide dynamic technical leadership, co-ordination and governance. The Principal Engineer will need to have proven client management skills, the ability to help build and manage the technical support team and oversee technical outputs. They should have a practical understanding of commercial and contract management, and experience of managing large projects/programmes of work. The role necessitates the ability to work effectively across organisational boundaries, both internally and externally to Arcadis, and offers a pathway towards senior management positions.  Role accountabilities:Proactively managing a portfolio of projects and working in collaboration with other design disciplinesWorking with the client and taking ownership for the delivery of Arcadis’ portfolio of worksEnsuring adequate resource for the delivery of the programme and identifying needs to enable strategic recruitment as necessaryBuilding a profile within our Client and Contractor teams and maintaining Arcadis’ reputation for high quality, innovative designCommunicating with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with, company and client processes, plans and initiativesCreate and manage quality processes and ensuring quality deliverables and assurance in line with company systemsPlan, direct and control tasks, people and resources.Lead teams and develop staff to meet changing technical and managerial needs.Undertake the design and development of engineering solutions and evaluate their effectiveness.Providing technical leadership, direction and pastoral care to team members, taking a proactive role in developing them to their full potential, leading by example to achieve sector/divisional goals and championing a quality, innovative and entrepreneurial culture  Contributing to the resolution of project issues and providing guidance and support to other team membersBeing familiar with, and compliant with, relevant H&S regulations and promoting a culture of H&S awareness within the teamPerforming other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your Client Manager or Arcadis Senior Leadership TeamQualifications & Experience:A technical leader, able to provide direction support and motivation to a diverse teamAble to communicate and work effectively with people from other partner organisations, backgrounds and disciplines, utilising their knowledge and experience to best effectA working knowledge of project & programme managementA working knowledge of contract and commercial managementAn excellent communicator who enables, promotes and drives technical excellence for the ultimate benefit of the clientGood people management skills, ensuring that the best talent is used to meet the resource demands for the projected workloadKnowledge of helping to build successful teamsExhibit behaviours consistent with Arcadis vision and valuesWhy Become an Arcadian?Our work with clients has a direct impact on people’s lives and on the planet.
