Principal Civil Engineer

Your new company Hays are currently recruiting a Principal Civil Engineer for our client based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The successful candidate will work in the Infrastructure are working in partnership with a world-leading design, engineering and project management organisation dedicated to engineering a better future for everyone. The company is committed to delivering end to end service to their clients across the whole life cycle from Capital, Consulting, Decommissioning, Engineering and Design, Operations and Maintenance, Project and Program management up to Project Delivery. Your new role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Civil Engineer in the Infrastructure Division specifically in water/waste water role involves a combination of technical leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement. Here are the key responsibilities: Technical Leadership: Overseeing project aspects related to design, standards compliance, and quality. Operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing your workload effectively. Act as a line manager, supporting and developing team members. Determine project scope, budget, and resources allocation. Ensure deliverables comply with design standards. Project Management: Manage project finances, budgets, and timelines. Lead the production of technical reports and fee proposals. Conduct design reviews to ensure coordination across disciplines. Undertake site visits and inspections with clients. Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain key client relationships. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in the Principal Civil Engineer role, you must have the following qualifications and skills: A Chartered Civil Engineer. Experience in leading design delivery, including multidisciplinary design. Sound knowledge of water and/or wastewater treatment, storage solutions, hydraulics, water supply and wastewater collection systems and familiarity with current UK design standards and working practices. Proficiency in designing within appropriate digital analysis packages, following local and national guidance, e.g. HADES, Infoworks, EPANET.
