Our client has a requirement for a Principal Civil & Structural Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis at the Client’s Site Sellafield.

Role Purpose:

The Principal Civil & Structural Engineer will report to the Area Lead Engineer and the Engineering Manager, providing engineering support to the project. This role involves managing Civil & Structural workload, resolving technical issues, and ensuring compliance with design intent during construction.

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage Civil & Structural engineering workload to budget and programme requirements.
• Provide Civil & Structural engineering support to construction and commissioning activities.
• Maintain strong relationships with design, construction, and client teams to resolve technical issues promptly.
• Respond to technical queries, product permits, concessions, and non-conformances.
• Interface daily with construction personnel, ensuring engineering design intent is met.
• Produce and check structural calculations (steelwork, concrete, and masonry), technical reports, and site modifications.
• Review contractor method statements, inspection plans, and other documentation.
• Participate in walkdowns, meetings, and technical reviews as required.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Degree qualified, preferably Chartered Engineer (MIStructE or MICE).
• IOSH Working or Managing Safely (or equivalent).
• Nuclear industry experience preferred but not essential.
• Strong communication, analytical, and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of CDM Regulations and Designer responsibilities.
