Position: Principal Consultant – Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)Our client is a global environmental consultancy that specialises in providing planning and environmental services to the renewable energy sector. They have supported several significant development projects across a diverse mix of markets and geographies and are currently delivering EIA, consenting and post consent compliance for transmission, onshore renewables, offshore wind and interconnector projects across the UK and Ireland.This is one of a number of new roles needed to continue the growth of their Environmental Planning Sector to support a pipeline of projects across the UK&I delivering Environmental Statements, Environmental Impact Assessment Reports and other environmental consenting documents. To excel in this role, you will need:Proven experience in EIA delivery, including screening, scoping, and reporting (Environmental Statements, EIA Reports, and documentation).Technical and project management expertise in various infrastructure sectors, ideally within the renewables industry working for either a Consultancy or within a Developer.Strong knowledge of the UK & Irish policy and regulatory framework for EIA and ideally Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). Essential qualifications for candidates: BSc or MSc Degree in a Marine or Environmental Science discipline Membership of a relevant professional institute (e.g. Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or the Institution of Environmental Science (IES) – full membership or working towards full membership.A comprehensive understanding of the UK & Irish policy and regulatory framework for EIA and ideally Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). We are looking for a subject matter expert in the delivery of EIA work, including screening, scoping and end reporting, including Environmental Statements, Environmental Impact Assessment Reports and supporting documentation.Technical and project management experience across a range of infrastructure and development sectors, with experience within the renewables industry as a consultant or with a developer. Desirable qualifications include: Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) or equivalent professional certification.Experience mentoring junior staff with a focus on long-term learning and development.Experience in sectors like energy distribution, water, or infrastructure projects.Background in environmental auditing or due diligence of impact assessment documentation.Strongly encouraged to apply if you have additional EIA technical expertise (e.g., Planning, Landscape & Visual, Carbon Accounting, Cultural Heritage, Noise & Vibration, Air Quality, Soils).Willingness to travel to sites or meetings throughout the UK/Ireland as needed.
