Principal Electrical Building Services Engineer to join one of the UK's leading Universities. You will lead a dedicated team of engineers in the design and delivery of complex electrical install, maintenance and refurbishment projects. This role is critical in ensuring the university's electrical infrastructure is designed, maintained, and upgraded to the highest standards. The Principal Electrical Engineer will oversee both High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency in all operations.
This role will support the delivery of the University Estates Strategy, through delivery of projects creating new electrical infrastructure as well as improving and replacing the existing systems.
Description
- Oversee the planning, design, and delivery of electrical projects, including building infrastructure, HV and LV systems, and other related installations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of electrical engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Manage team workload, priorities, and resource allocation to ensure the timely and successful completion of projects.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other building services.
- Conduct thorough analysis and risk assessments for electrical systems, implementing solutions to mitigate potential issues.
- Liaise with academic and administrative departments to understand their electrical infrastructure needs and translate them into effective engineering solutions.
- Present technical reports, project updates, and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders
Profile
- Bachelor's degree/HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering
- Chartered Engineer (CEng/CIBSE) status or working towards it.
- Extensive experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems, including HV and LV infrastructure.
- Relevant engineering software experience (AutoCAD, Lighting packages etc)
- Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Previous experience working within a large organisation.
