The OpportunityWe have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Principal Environmentalist to join our Sustainability Solutions team. With shared office space in Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Manchester, York, and Scotland, we welcome applications from Principal Environmental Consultants across these regions. With recent success in securing numerous large-scale infrastructure projects, we're expanding our capabilities and seeking a passionate Principal Environmentalist to spearhead teams across the entire Amey Consulting portfolio. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape and lead the delivery of impactful environmental projects, from scoping studies to full environmental statements, while providing valuable insights on key topics such as Population and Human Health, Waste & Materials, and Environmental Management & Sustainability. The roleOur Principal Environmentalists play an important part within the Sustainable Solutions team and alongside our clients. As a Principal Environmentalist you will act as a team leader, providing and overseeing the production of technically sound deliverables for Environmental commissions, whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior designers. Responsibilities include: To act as a technical team leader, providing advice, guidance and supervision to technical teams, operational managers, clients, and suppliers Preparing and leading the preparation and checking of reports, designs, calculations, and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the overarching criteria of quality, cost, and programme. Responsibility for the commercial success of the projects within their portfolio, controlling budgets and managing the costs associated with the production of deliverables. Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level and higher, including presenting proposals. Managing or influencing the actions of technical teams, including the multidisciplinary environment, and taking responsibility for delivery of workload. Significantly contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function Drive effective health and safety practices within the team. What you will bring to us:Developed experience and expertise within the relevant technical field, probably gained in a Lead Senior Environmental Consultant role or equivalent. Able to produce and lead the production of technically sound environmental solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements. Experienced in undertaking project related tasks associated with the management of health, safety, and welfare, e.g. Amey’s Integrated Management System and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations Capable of acting as technical lead for a project where required under the terms of the commission. Knowledge, understanding and experience of design and specification process with the ability to advise others, acting as Team lead for both minor and major projects. Highly experienced with relevant software and similar analytical tools including ADMS-Roads, AERMOD, QGIS, ArcGIS etc, with a good ability to check work produced by others and validate and approver the use of new tools. Excellent understanding of CDM and risk assessment. Substantially experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects and ensures appropriate risk mitigation and transference has been applied.
