We are seeking a dynamic Principal Infrastructure Services Engineer to spearhead our automation and tooling initiatives within our Infrastructure and Platform Engineering teams. This role will be pivotal in maintaining and expanding our private cloud infrastructure, powered by OpenStack, across a global environment. This role will require you to go into our London office a minimum of 2 days a week. Your Impact Design, deploy, and refine OpenStack environments to ensure high availability, security, and scalability. Implement and manage infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Docker. Lead automation efforts within the infrastructure teams, promoting best practices and innovative solutions. Develop and execute automated testing according to technical specifications to benchmark performance. Collaborate with Engineering and Infrastructure teams to ensure our infrastructure solutions enable and meet their needs. Serve as a subject-matter expert on private cloud architecture, guiding the organisation on best practices and technical standards. Requirements Proven expertise in architecting and managing OpenStack environments. Skilled in virtualisation technologies including KVM &VMware. Strong proficiency in containerisation platforms, such as Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with bare-metal provisioning, particularly with tools like Ironic or MaaS. Good knowledge of automation tools including Terraform and Ansible. Proficient in scripting (Python or Shell) and familiar with CI/CD practices. Experience with Linux operating systems in high availability environments. Hands-on experience with observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Splunk. Desirable Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure). Knowledge of data centre technologies and network topologies. Familiarity with security best practices (e.g., NIST, STIGs).
