About The Role Are youan experienced consultant in the maritime sector looking to take your career to the next level? Maybe you re looking to develop your project or people management skills, while working on a diverse range of projects including offshore wind farms, navigation planning and safety measure design for new ports/harbours, and post decommissioning of oil/gas fields?Nash Maritime (part of the APEM Group) are looking for a Principal Consultant to join them in driving new and innovative approaches to maritime safety! As a Principal Maritime Consultant, you will apply your technical knowledge to analyse potential impacts to shipping and navigation from proposed operations or developments (including offshore wind farms). You will also contribute to/lead on assessments of navigational risk, author ing report chapters , and contributing/leading on the development of bids and tenders, as well as contributing to wider NASH business development activities. As a Principal consultant y ou will be responsible for management of a variety of projects and workstreams , liaising with teams across functions to ensure efficient and successful project delivery, alongside managing internal teams, supporting their professional development and growth and fostering an effective and engaged team. You will lead on liais ing with clients and stakeholders , interfacing with environmental and engineering decision-makers to determine potential impacts and applying your technical knowledge to analyse problems and find innovative solutions. The role will initially be shaped around the areas in which you have most experience and skills, with support and training provided to gradually build out to develop your expertise across our services and sectors. As you develop as a Principal Consultant, you will be working on tasks independently and cross-functionally with the wider team and Group, taking responsibility for defined areas such as technical delivery, project management, business development or team leadership, alongside mentoring and supporting team members and playing a key role in building an exceptional team. You will have: Professional experience in a consultancy environment (e.g. as a scientist, engineer, environmental professional, GIS/data analyst or maritime professional) Previous experience in the maritime industry e.g., shipping, ports, offshore renewable industry, harbour master, VTS, etc. A degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. science, engineering, geography, or risk/mathematics) or equivalent/similar qualifications e.g. Master Mariner Understanding and knowledge of statistical/data analysis, management, and interpretation Previous experience in client liaison and/or stakeholder management Experience of bidding for work Excellent report writing and oral communication skills, organisational and time management skills, alongside a professional manner, strong inter-personal skills, and ability to adapt and communicate at all levels Ability to work independently with initiative and as part of a team You will be offered the chance to work on a variety of projects, many of our employees have worked on projects that have been of personal interest to them.
