Job Title: Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Edinburgh

Salary: �53,000 - �63,600

My client is a renowned engineering consultancy known for delivering high-quality Mechanical Services Design solutions. They are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanical Services Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to diverse projects and ensure excellence in design and implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Services Design:
- Contribute to the delivery of Mechanical Services Design on assigned projects.
- Maintain and enhance the quality and efficiency of design and post-contract implementation.

Client and Team Interaction:
- Represent the organisation through direct client contact and collaboration with design team members.
- Occasionally represent the company at meetings in Mechanical and Mechanical Services disciplines.

Project Management:
- Apply and enforce office procedures and basic engineering principles.
- Manage multiple projects and oversee the work of Assistant and Apprentice Engineers.
- Develop Concept Designs as part of the RIBA Stage 2 & 3 Design Process.
- Prepare scheme design drawings from concept to detailed design.
- Provide input to Stage 2 and 3 MEP Reports and understand the commercial framework for projects.

Detailed Design (RIBA Stage 4):
- Develop Mechanical Services detailed design.
- Oversee design work by junior engineering staff and ensure quality standards are met.
- Understand project deadlines and client briefs.

Software Proficiency:
- CAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Hevacomp, IES, Manual Calculations, Chorus, Word, and Excel.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Degree qualified and working towards chartered status.
- Demonstrated success in a Graduate Mechanical Engineer role.
- Project management, delivery, and quality assurance skills.
- Strong client-facing and interpersonal skills.
- Initiative-driven with problem-solving abilities.
- Valid UK Driving Licence (preferable) and willingness to travel for meetings and projects.
