Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer - Precision CNC Machined PartsLocation: Portsmouth, England, United KingdomCompany Overview:Our client is a leading manufacturer of subsystems that incorporate precision CNC machined parts, serving industries such as aerospace, automotive, and medical devices.Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of precision CNC machined parts. This role involves managing a team, overseeing projects, and collaborating with production and quality teams.Key Responsibilities:Team Leadership:Guide and mentor a small team of mechanical engineers.Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.Design & Development:Design precision CNC parts (micron level including) using advanced CAD software.Perform FEA and other analyses to validate designs.Validate using thermal and flow simulationsGeometric dimension and TolerancingDrawings considering manufacturabilityProject Oversight:Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.Develop detailed project plans and progress reports.Process Improvement:Enhance machining processes for better efficiency and quality.Work with production to address and resolve issues.Quality Control:Ensure all parts meet stringent quality standards.Implement and maintain rigorous testing and inspection protocols.Innovation & R&D:Lead research and development initiatives for new and existing products.Keep abreast of industry trends and new technologies.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).7+ years in mechanical engineering, with a focus on CNC machining.Proven leadership experience.Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes and materials.Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.Preferred:Professional EngineerExperience in aerospace, automotive, or medical devices.Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification.
