Salary: Up to £57,500 dependent on experience
What you’ll be doing:
As the Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the development of the Propulsion Systems through its Engineering Delivery Framework (EDF) stages 0-3 over the next 2 years. The programme will be focussing on the development of Tools, Processes & Technologies. There will be a strong focus on the development off more effective System Engineering practices through Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and the embodiment of key business toolsets associated with the NextGen Digital Framework. You will also be responsible for delivering the Primary Propulsion Package to the Programme and this will comprise of a Raft Mounted Diesel Engine & Motor Generator Unit Transmission, Diesel Exhaust System, Shaftline and External Thrusters. The Motor Generator will have shared responsibility with the Electrical Engineering team and the system will need to be developed to DNV regulations.

The Mechanical Engineering team:
As the Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be entering in to a unique role working on the next generation of 1st in class Defence Submarines. In this role you will also have the opportunity to travel to other BAE Systems sites across the UK to network with fellow engineers and attend crucial meetings.
The programme mantra of rapid progression and fast learning will be applied to accelerate ahead of the SSNA Programme to feedback lessons learned and insights gained. There is intent that if the engineering phase is successful the programme will continue to de-risk transition to build activities. We offer relocation support across all Submarine roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria
