A fantastic position has now become available in London for you as a Principal Transport Planner to take an industry leading role in creating a more sustainable way of travelling through major cities across the UK with Councils such as Westminster, Leeds City, and the West of England Combined Authority.
You will take the leading position in a team that is currently working solely to create more active travel schemes, urban spaces, traffic reduction, public transport and much more. As a Principal Transport Planner in this team it will be your responsibility to act as the Project Manager on these schemes, liaising with the client and managing a team of transport planners to deliver these schemes.
You would be joining a tier one multi-disciplinary's Central London office, and as a Principal Transport Planner you'd be joining a dedicated Transport team of over 160, giving you the backing and support required from across the UK to implement and strive for new ways to make these major cities more sustainable.
Principal Transport Planner Daily Responsibilities

  • Work directly with our clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs.
  • Acting as Project Manager on a wide range of projects whilst helping to grow and develop work with clients, particularly with Westminster City Council
  • Acting as a Line Manager for your own team of Transport Planners and Graduates.
  • Preparing and reviewing reports, drawings, schedules, bills of quantities, cost estimates and other documents in accordance with local procedures and guidance.
  • Being responsible for the financial performance of projects.
  • Undertaking technical review and checking of design deliverables within the team.
  • Work collaboratively with the wide UK team, our colleagues in transport business to achieve our aims and objectives.

Principal Transport Planner Requirements

  • civil engineering, transport planning degree or equivalent
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body such as CIHT or ICE.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage project teams and individuals
  • Significant transport, road safety or highway engineering experience
  • The ability to prioritise, to achieve deadlines and to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good spoken and written communication skills. With the ability to liaise with others including public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues
