The Role
I'm currently working with a highly experienced multidisciplinary construction consultancy with a diverse and exciting portfolio within commercial, leisure, and residential developments (including high-rise and prestigious landmark buildings).
They are currently looking for an experienced Principle Structural Engineer or an Associate Structural Engineer to join their Sheffield office. You will be responsible for managing the structures team on a day-to-day basis and utilising strong management skills and technical expertise to ensure projects flow smoothly and stay within time constraints and budget.
What is expected:
Experience designing structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber structures.
Proficient understanding of both UK Building Regulations and Eurocodes.
A proven track record in the inspection of analysis and reporting on structural defects and/or remedial works.
Conversant with NHBC Standards, Network Rail Company Standards, and Railway Group Standards (preferred but not essential).
Experience with design software such as: Tekla Structural Designer,
S-Frame
TEDDS
SCIA
CADS
Knowledge of the site investigation process.
Excellent communication skills to produce accurate and technically correct reports.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage own/team projects and resources within agreed time scales.
Qualifications:
Qualified and Chartered Engineer with either Institution of Structural Engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers membership.
Proven capability of managing and leading.
Experience of contract negotiation at a senior level.
Have considerable experience working on a variety of projects.
Responsible for allocating and overseeing the work of Graduate Engineers, Technicians and junior staff.
A commercial understanding of fee management (essential).
Ensure client satisfaction at all stages of the design process.
Seek and secure new business opportunities as well as maintaining the existing client base.
Liaise with senior management to make recommendations on technical software and/or training, or generally improving areas of the business.
