Are you a strategic thinker with a knack for efficient process planning? We are seeking a dedicated Process Planning Manager to join our client’s team in Rotherham. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the planning processes in a dynamic environment and optimise throughput in alignment with demand and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead planning initiatives to achieve cutting schedules that are aligned with demand, targeting a 24-hour advance whenever feasible.
- Supervise the CAD workflow, ensuring optimal nesting practices are employed across various profiles for efficiency.
- Direct the CAD team to maximize nesting capabilities, focusing on minimizing waste and prioritizing the use of existing off cuts.
- Facilitate effective communication with Profile Sales and Production teams regarding stock levels and ensure accurate itemization of off cuts.
- Adapt planning strategies to accommodate urgent orders while keeping all departments informed to minimize disruption.
- Establish realistic deadlines for profile cutting and ensure timely communication with the load planner about upcoming deliveries.
- Analyse production performance, addressing any declines in OEE and throughput by examining time efficiency.
- Develop and distribute accurate lead times, collaborating with operations management to optimize machine and workforce utilization.
- Participate in production meetings to discuss urgent tasks, lead times, and provide resolutions to ongoing queries.
- Conduct afternoon operations meetings to outline production priorities and adjust plans for any delayed orders.
- Assist with the nesting of high-priority or complex orders when necessary.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a management role preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in a planning or scheduling role is essential.
- Experienced in the steel/metals industry preferred.
- Familiarity with Sigma Nest and AS400 (or similar software) preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent skills in management, planning, and reporting.
