About Us:

We are an established family bakery with a taste for quality, having created delicious products for over 75 years. Our organisation produces baked goods for retail and food service, specialising in cake and sweet pastry tart products.

We supply all major UK retailers with ambient Free From ranges and a number of leading Coffee Shop Chains with ambient and frozen ranges. We operate two bakeries: A conventional Bakery and a dedicated Gluten, Wheat and Milk Free Bakery avoiding 12 out of the 14 notable allergens.

Procurement Assistant – The Role:

We are looking for a bright individual who enjoys the autonomy and challenge of a family run business and doesn’t fit the overly corporate mould. We want someone who takes responsibility and has a willingness to learn and further their own development.

Procurement Assistant – Key Responsibilities:

- Optimise ordering and stockholding of materials to meet production requirements, ensuring production is not disrupted and keeping stock inventory in line with targets

- Raise bulk orders and call-offs for materials, buying at optimum order quantity at the best price

- Help monitor if purchase orders are delivered on time, to the correct specification, at the agreed price and quantity

- Ensure smooth flow of goods inbound and to and from external storage partners through collaborative work with suppliers and warehousing

- Building and maintaining supplier relationships

- Manage aged stock and stock with suppliers

- Support new launches by managing packaging run-outs

- Work closely with planning & production teams, advising on potential shortages to minimise issues that could impact factory efficiencies, plans and customer service

- Assist Procurement Manager in the implementation of processes, procedures, tenders, and projects

- Support the rest of the team and provide holiday cover

Procurement Assistant – You:

- Communication and organisational skills

- Ability to prioritise workload

- IT skills

- Can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and develop

- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment

- Maintain a values-oriented approach to how they operate as a representative of the business

- Familiar with using ERP systems, Tropos experience desirable
