Client Details

Global FMCG Brand, with operations across the UK and Internationally, that require a Procurement Category Manager to manage their packaging spend, based in the North West of England.

Description

The role of Procurement Category Manager will be responsible for:

  1. Category Strategy Development: Establish and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies for packaging materials to meet business goals and optimize cost

  2. Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring continuous improvement in performance, cost, quality, and innovation

  3. Cost Optimization: Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives through negotiations, competitive bidding, and process improvements

  4. Risk Management: Proactively monitor and mitigate risks related to supply continuity and market fluctuation

  5. Sustainability and Compliance: Lead initiatives to ensure packaging materials meet sustainability goals and regulatory requirement

  6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as sales, marketing, engineering, and finance to align procurement strategies with overall business objectives

  7. Market Intelligence: Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and innovations in packaging materials to anticipate opportunities and challenges

Profile

Ideally, the candidate will have the following background:

  • Thorough understanding of procurement processes and frameworks
  • Previous experience in a Category Manager role or similar
  • Excellent working understanding of category management, strategic sourcing, supplier development, and value chain mapping.
  • Excellent working knowledge of allocated areas of spend.
  • Understanding of contract principles and clauses and be able to construct and interpret agreements.
  • SAP analytics and reporting.
  • Degree level qualification, ideally business related would be desired but not essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Associate or student of CIPS is desirable but not essential.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel through UK and Overseas.
