Exciting Opportunity for a Procurement Manager (public sector) in Manchester

Our client, a public sector organisation in Manchester, is seeking a talented and motivated Procurement Manager to join their team. As the Procurement Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the organisation obtains value for money from its contracts and operates in line with the Procurement Act 2023.

This role is initially a 3 year FTC with potential for extension.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver a wide range of procurement projects, including tenders and framework call-offs, while aligning with the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Actively contribute to the implementation and guidance of changes mandated by the Procurement Act 2023.
  • Ensure that all procurement processes are efficient, legally compliant, and deliver value for money.
  • Provide training to staff on procurement policies and any changes
  • Foster strong relationships with colleagues involved in the procurement process and promote best practises.
  • Serve as a point of contact for the escalation and resolution of procurement issues.
  • Ensure compliance with transparency requirements throughout the procurement process.
  • Support the updating/replacement of the procurement system.

Qualifications:

  • In depth knowledge of procurement legislation and regulations
  • Previous experience managing procurement processes within the public sector
  • Either MCIPS qualified or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and capability.
  • Exceptional influencing and negotiation skills, coupled with the ability to establish credibility.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Flexible approach with excellent prioritisation skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Involvement in continuous improvement projects, including process redesign and change management and implementing new ERP systems
