Location: Ballymena
Salary: £30,000 - £34,000 per annum
Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Procurement Officer on behalf of one of our clients.
The purpose of the role is resourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services. This role requires strong negotiation skills, analytical thinking and the ability to source goods and services as efficiently as possible, to support the needs of the overall business.
Standard hours will be Monday to Friday 0800 – 1700, 40 hours per week. Flexibility is required to work additional hours on occasion as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities for the Procurement Officer:


  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimise sourcing and supplier selection processes.
  • Identify potential suppliers, conduct supplier evaluations and negotiate prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvement within the procurement function.
  • Liaising with other departments e.g., production, operations and finance to align procurement activities with business needs efficiently.
  • Procure goods, materials and services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
  • Work with the Head of Procurement in managing supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards, to enable evaluation.
  • Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.
  • Extending supplier networking by building, maintaining and managing supplier relationships.
  • Provide analysis / reports on costs for both new and existing supplier.
  • Compile data relating supplier performance, monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure adequate stock levels while minimising carrying cost.
  • Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes, including communication and negotiation of resolution to any supply problems, which may impact the business.
  • Management of Brexit customs paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Stay updated with market trends, industry developments and regulatory requirements to inform procurements decisions.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary, agreed by Head of Procurement.

Skills and Qualifications for the Procurement Officer:


  • 2+ years of experience in procurement, or a supply chain role.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Packages.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the procurement team.
  • Willingness to be flexible to suit business needs.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with ability to prioritise a busy work schedule.

Desirable for the Procurement Officer:


  • Driven individual with experience working in procurement function.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working within manufacturing environment.
  • Product knowledge of precast concrete products.
  • Experience in meeting KPIs and targets.
  • Full driving licence.
