Your new company Hays are delighted to be working with a large manufacturing company to recruit an experienced Procurement Officer. Your new role The Procurement Officer will be responsible for sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services. Your strong negotiation skills, analytical thinking, and efficiency in sourcing will be crucial in supporting the overall business needs. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimise sourcing and supplier selection processes. Identify potential suppliers, conduct evaluations, negotiate prices and terms, and review opportunities for business savings. Identify cost-saving and process improvement opportunities within the procurement function. Liaise with production, operations, and finance departments to align procurement activities with business needs. Procure goods, materials, and services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets. Manage supplier relationships and monitor performance to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards. Collaborate with the procurement team to review opportunities for continuous improvement. Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships to extend networking. Provide analysis and reports on costs for both new and existing suppliers. Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure adequate stock levels while minimising carrying costs. Ensure compliance with company guidelines, purchasing policies, and procedures. Stay updated with market trends, industry developments, and regulatory requirements to inform procurement decisions. Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by the Head of Procurement. What you'll need to succeed 2+ years of experience in procurement or a supply chain role. Strong negotiation and contract management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office packages. Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. The ability to work independently and collaboratively with the procurement team. Flexibility to suit business needs. Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise a busy work schedule.
